If Harveywetdog did Wikipedia - 15 years as an equestrian videographer

In April 2020, and in the interest of legacy, I penned a Wikipedia entry recording the thoughts and notable achievements of myself as Harveywetdog. I admit I was ignorant of the rules concerning self promotion on Wikipedia at the time; consequently my entry was unfortunately, although arguably correctly, deleted and my account expunged from the system. As a result my original words and links were sadly lost but nevertheless here is an attempt at a rewrite. Perhaps when I'm gone someone will be able to enter it onto Wikipedia on my behalf, to serve as a fitting epitaph for the exciting times I spent on the Harveywetdog Project.

Engineer, fix yourself

Latest update on my Chronic Lymphocytic Leukaemia.

Last time we spoke my platelet levels were falling and, following my December consultation at Derriford, I expected to start treatment early in the new year. First I had to have my heart tested as some of the drugs can cause arrythmia. Thankfully my echocardiogram came back all good.

What does the future hold

I had a consultants appointment planned for late afternoon in January but fortunately, given the weather and road conditions we've been experiencing recently, I was able to change this to a telephone consultation. Now telephone consultations were very much the way of the world with Gloucestershire RH, so I was happy to accept this in Devon given the extra distance we have to travel (which includes the travel black spot that is Tavistock).

There’s one other thing I should say. At the start of January I made the decision to go alcohol free. I was pretty sure I'd kept off the sauce during my initial treatment and I decided it wouldn't do any harm to adopt the same regime this time.

You get used to waiting when you have an appointment with the NHS and the telephone consultation was no different. The call finally came through after five o'clock, but the good news was that my full blood showed an improvement in my platelet count, fairly stable haemoglobin and a slight reduction in lymphocytosis (which I seem to recall was a good thing) with no current indication of an urgent need for treatment.

So all good for now and we'll see how things are in March.

In the mean time I've been busying my time writing up my E-books from my tours of Africa and Malaysia and rereading my way though the works of Anthony Trollope.

Although I am keeping the E-books private, I have produced three blogs on this material that you can follow here.
