If Harveywetdog did Wikipedia - 15 years as an equestrian videographer

In April 2020, and in the interest of legacy, I penned a Wikipedia entry recording the thoughts and notable achievements of myself as Harveywetdog. I admit I was ignorant of the rules concerning self promotion on Wikipedia at the time; consequently my entry was unfortunately, although arguably correctly, deleted and my account expunged from the system. As a result my original words and links were sadly lost but nevertheless here is an attempt at a rewrite. Perhaps when I'm gone someone will be able to enter it onto Wikipedia on my behalf, to serve as a fitting epitaph for the exciting times I spent on the Harveywetdog Project.

Farewell Altnabreac Uncovered - you served us well

How AI sees the Solum story

Earlier in the year we looked at the goings on at Altnabreac brought to us by YouTube Channels Altnabreac Cover Up and Altnabreac Uncovered. The saga has rolled on across the year, we’ve enjoyed the long awaited Solum video, there has been much legal coming and going but to be honest we don’t seem much further forward.

My take on Altnabreac

Last weekend I became aware of one significant development, at least as far as Altnabreac Uncovered were concerned. They had managed to fall foul of the YouTube copyright rules and unfortunately get their channel cancelled.

The beginning of the end

As you know I’ve had my own problems with YouTube and copyright and I've explained before that I believe YouTube have to be seen to be taking a firm line with "offenders" to demonstrate compliance with the DMCA. It appears that two of Altnabreac Uncovered's videos had infringed copyright back in February and created two strikes. Although the strikes only stand for 90 days this is on the basis that the offender has attended copyright school which unfortunately Altnabreac Uncovered hadn’t. The channel picked up a third strike in November and from what I understand wasn’t able to clear the previous strikes and hence will be removed from YouTube on 6th December.

The end part 1

The end part 2

This is all very sad, if not inevitable, and it will now be left to others to give the other point of view as this sorry saga rumbles on to its surely inevitable conclusion.

I do not know why Altnabreac Uncovered chose not to attend Copyright School; in my experience this is a relatively straightforward step and I would describe YouTube Copyright School as disappointing rather than particularly difficult.

As of 6th December, Altnabreac Uncovered has disappeared from my YouTube Subscriptions list and I suspect from YouTube altogether. So, for now, it is thank you to Altnabreac Uncovered for all you honest, if at times a little naïve, reporting.

A Solum moment?
Isn't AI wonderful!
