The CDI promises to be a truly international affair with riders coming forward from 13 nations. While the bulk come from Great Britain (52) and Ireland (9) we can also look forward to seeing riders from more distant nations such as Australian Lyndal Yelavich riding Classic Goldstrike in the three star competition and New Zealand's Sarah Wilkinson riding Horacia amongst the 28 starters in the one star.
Harveywetdog favourite Abigail Lyle representing Ireland has both Giraldo and Farrell in the three star. Carolyn Mellor, Sorrell Klatzko and Kevin Acres will also feature for Ireland in the three star where the Grand Prix takes place on Tuesday, with the Special and the Freestyle both scheduled for Wednesday.
Great Britain have 28 combinations starting in the one star competition led by Olympian Gareth Hughes riding the Flamboyant Dressage Stud's ten year old Oldenberg Stallion Morricine III. We can also expect strong performances from Sarah Stewart with Djoe Dimaggio and Dannie Morgan riding Fever Tree. Sara Jane Lanning has two horses entered, including Hawtins Lirica who we last videoed four years ago when the Winter Championships were held at Hartpury.
In the three star competition the 21 starters for Great Britain have experience in depth with Fiona Bigwood, Richard Davison, Gareth Hughes, Charlotte Dujardin and Henriette Anderson all sure to impress the judges. The last time we videoed Henriette Anderson and the lovely Zackery was in the pouring rain at Hartpury in July 2024 when they took the runners up spot in the Grand Prix Special at the Hartpury Festival of Dressage.
Charlotte Dujardin is due to ride the Mccarthy's twelve year old Oldenberg Gelding Brave Heart II in the three star, a horse she has scored over 76 percent with at Grand Prix locally although they had to settle for two second places when they competed internationally at Kronenberg last November.
Here's looking forward to an exciting week of dressage competition.
