If Harveywetdog did Wikipedia

In April 2020 and in the interest of legacy I wrote a Wikipedia entry recording the thoughts and notable works of Harveywetdog. I admit I was ignorant of the rules concerning self promotion on Wikipedia and consequently my entry was correctly deleted and my account expunged from the system. As a result my original words and links were sadly lost but nevertheless here is a rewrite. Perhaps when I'm gone someone will be able to enter it onto Wikipedia as a fitting epitaph for my time on the Harveywetdog Project.

Looking ahead to the Badminton Horse Trials 2024 - Olympic Year

Latest Badminton Horse Trials Press Release:

Badminton 2023 gave us a great competition and winner in Ros Canter. As you will remember too well, it was not an easy year as far as the weather was concerned but thank you all for your loyal support and endurance of the conditions.

The preparations for the 2024 Event started almost as soon as the 2023 one finished and we are looking forward to celebrating the event’s 75th anniversary, of which we will tell you more over the coming months. As it will also be an Olympic year, it is set to be an exciting weekend!

We are very grateful to Mars Equestrian™ who, having been our presenting partner of the event since 2020, have stepped up to be the title sponsor of the event in 2024. The fact that Mars wish to enhance their involvement with Badminton is an honour in our anniversary year and we are looking forward to developing their veterinary and welfare interest in the event. We are also extremely thankful to Lightsource bp for their continued support as an official partner and indeed all the other sponsors involved with the event.

The traffic plan has been re-visited and improved access and parking from the north introduced. Understandably, due to the wet, many people delayed their arrival time in 2023 and I would ask all, especially on cross-country day, to plan an early arrival at the event in 2024, as was the case in 2022.

Harveywetdog notes - the assertion that people delayed their arrival time is nonsense. Arrivals from the North were sacrificed in favour of those from the South in order to keep the M4 moving. Having said that I see no option but to set off even earlier next year and welcome the proposed improved access from the North

We are very pleased to welcome Yeti, a company that produces premium coolers, drinkware & outdoor gear, on board as sponsors of the campsite, which is having a facelift, with additional showers and toilets, more exits, a new internal road and a hub which will include a catering van (to include fish n chips!), coffee van, shop, and a place to sit and also watch the action on a big screen.

Vodafone, O2 and EE are all on board and will be erecting masts as per 2023.

The tradestand village is taking shape, with the great majority of exhibitors wishing to return and new ones waiting in the wings.

The Box Office will open online and in person on Wednesday 3rd January with new customers able to book a week later on the 10th January. As for 2023 all vehicle and personal admission tickets must be purchased in advance, with no tickets available on the gate. We will once again be offering a discount on tickets purchased up to and including 31st March and will be emailing previous customers the link to the online ticketing kiosk between Christmas and New Year.

Being an Olympic Games year, Badminton is pleased to announce our fundraising partner for 2024 will be the British Equestrian Federation Fund which provides additional support to our Olympic and Paralympic teams. The Equestrian World Class Programme and the championship teams are generously funded by The National Lottery, via UK Sport. However, every four years extra fundraising takes place to ensure our horses and riders can go the extra mile – it’s often those additional special touches that can make the difference between a medal or finishing fourth. Jim Eyre, British Equestrian CEO said; “Everyone who supports the Fund at Badminton plays a part in the British Equestrian Teams’ quest for medals at the Olympic and Paralympic Games next year. We’re looking forward to meeting and engaging with fans at Badminton and rallying support as we prepare for Paris 2024.”

Excitement to the end of the day
