If Harveywetdog did Wikipedia

In April 2020 and in the interest of legacy I wrote a Wikipedia entry recording the thoughts and notable works of Harveywetdog. I admit I was ignorant of the rules concerning self promotion on Wikipedia and consequently my entry was correctly deleted and my account expunged from the system. As a result my original words and links were sadly lost but nevertheless here is a rewrite. Perhaps when I'm gone someone will be able to enter it onto Wikipedia as a fitting epitaph for my time on the Harveywetdog Project.

What does Gatcombe Park and the Magic Millions Festival of British Eventing have in store?

Hot on the heels of the European Championships for Young Riders and Juniors I'll be hoping to spend some time at Festival of British Eventing at Gatcombe Park. Here's what the Festival has in store for us in 2022.

After three years, the Magic Millions Festival of British Eventing returns, showcasing 5 British Championships at Gatcombe Park.

Open Championship

The Magic Millions British Open Championship will be run at Advanced level.

Open Championship Course Map and Fence Names

What I've noticed immediately are the improvements at the far end of the course above the Biowave Water where the competitors are no longer required to jump through the Hamptons Barn and only pass through the water once. With the course configured in this way it should be possible to video 9 fences from one camera position. Trying to video around the Barn was always time consuming. The Bowl field will also provide the chance to video 9/10 fences from a single camera position.

Intermediate Championship

The Evelyn Partners British Intermediate Championship will also be run over an Advanced track but with Intermediate technical questions which will be ideal for horses running their first 1.20m track.

Novice Championship

The Dodson & Horrell Novice Championship will run over an Intermediate track but with Novice technical questions again making it ideal for horses running their first 1.15m track which is also shared with the new OI section (sponsored by BiowaveGO).

The Corinthian Cup

The TopSpec Challenge for The Corinthian Cup will be over a straight forward Novice track shared with the ROR Championship and the new ON section (sponsored by Bredon School) giving young and inexperienced horses the opportunity to take advantage of the unique atmosphere and terrain at Gatcombe Park.
