If Harveywetdog did Wikipedia

In April 2020 and in the interest of legacy I wrote a Wikipedia entry recording the thoughts and notable works of Harveywetdog. I admit I was ignorant of the rules concerning self promotion on Wikipedia and consequently my entry was correctly deleted and my account expunged from the system. As a result my original words and links were sadly lost but nevertheless here is a rewrite. Perhaps when I'm gone someone will be able to enter it onto Wikipedia as a fitting epitaph for my time on the Harveywetdog Project.

Bramham International Horse Trials 2022

The Bramham International Horse Trials team can announce with a huge sense of pride and relief that the box office for the 2022 edition is now open for sales. Running 9 – 12 June, Yorkshire’s largest equestrian fixture is back after missing two years due to Covid and the team is looking forward to welcoming everyone back for four days of action and entertainment.

Bramham features three world class eventing classes in one; the showcase CCI4*, the future star spotting British Horse Feeds u25 CCI4*L and the Land Rover CCI4*S.

Bramham is world renowned for its cross country courses designed by Ian Stark and built by David Evans and riders know they will provide a test where a good performance could cement selection for this year’s World Championships in September. Local heroine and reigning European Champion Nicola Wilson is a regular competitor and will be hoping to bring her stable stars this year.

New for 2022 is the addition the NAF BE80Championships to run with the established competitions which gives grassroots riders the chance to compete alongside the world’s best and take in the magic of one of Yorkshire’s much loved venues. Around 100 of Britain’s most talented amateurs will head to Bramham for the competition experience of a lifetime.

Alongside the eventing, there’s top flight show jumping action, the Saracen Horse Feeds Arena Eventing which proved a huge hit in its inaugural year, showing and breeding classes, Young Horse qualifiers and Pony Club activities so there’s always something to watch in our two competition arenas.  Aside the equestrian action, there’s a first rate shopping experience, entertainment, the Yorkshire Food Hall, Rural Crafts and a gourmet food outlets.

Annually, Bramham supports a local charity and this year it will be New Beginnings, who were announced as partners for the 2020 event. Based at Bishop Wilton near York, New Beginnings re-trains racehorses for a ‘life past the post’. As one of only ten accredited centres for Retraining of Racehorses, the charity provides security and purpose and without the selfless dedication of Directors Kevin and Pam Atkinson and their team, these thoroughbreds could find themselves neglected or even destroyed. The team will be on event to showcase their vital work and raise funds to help them continue.

Bramham Event Director Nicholas Pritchard commented; “It’s felt a long time coming but now the box office is open, the prospect of opening our gates in around 17 weeks for the horse trials becomes very real which is exciting for us. We’ll be bringing the family fun and eventing action in one of Britain’s most beautiful parks which our visitors love with a few new additions. We’ve had key meetings about the infrastructure of the show, Ian Stark and David Evans have had their first visits and a number of sponsors and tradestands have signed up so plans are well advanced. We’ve certainly missed the crowds, the world’s best horse and rider combinations and the buzz of the event – we hope they’ve missed their annual Bramham fix too and will join us for a huge celebration in June.”
