Extract from British Eventing Sports Update
Getting back Eventing
©Harveywetdog
Here are some extracts from Friday's e-mail from British Eventing telling us what they are doing to get sport back up and running in the UK. Big question - will it be Bicton or Cirencester Park for me at the end of April?
Fixtures
BE are delighted to be able to replace the cancelled Withington Manor International fixture with Cirencester Park, subject to FEI approval. Cirencester Park will run the same dates (1-2 May) and provide the same classes as Withington had scheduled, including all International and qualifier classes. Thanks go to the team at Cirencester Park.
BE have received expressions of interest from several Organisers to host the Fairfax and Favour Rockingham International and Equi-trek Bramham International classes, and this will now move to a tender process. The tender process should conclude shortly, and BE will update members on the outcomes as soon as possible. Following the sad announcement from Dodson and Horrell Chatsworth International on Friday, an expression of interest has been sent to Organisers to find an alternative for those key classes also.
Whitfield due to run 27-28 April has been replaced by Aston-le-Walls, again running the same classes at Whitfield were scheduled to run and on the same date. BE are pleased to have found a replacement opportunity in close geographic proximity.
The fixtures list will be updated shortly to reflect these changes.
Science Supplements Area Festivals Qualification
Emails are being sent soon to those who have qualified for the 2021 Area Qualifiers (replacing previous Regional Finals) and for the Area Championships being held at the Science Supplements Area Festivals.
The Science Supplements Area Festivals are an exciting new competition opportunity for grassroots competitors and will be run as standalone events with Championship technicality courses and international size dressage arenas.
BE very much look forward to welcoming members to these prestigious events and to provide a memorable and special experience.
Area Festival Venues and dates:
• Firle Place, Sussex (15-16 May)
• Frickley Park, South Yorkshire (19-20 June)
• Chillington Hall, Staffordshire/Shropshire border (26-27 June)
• Northern/Scottish region Area Festival venue – to be announced soon*
Sport protocols
The COVID-19 sport protocols BE will be following when they restart are available here. These are largely the same as the protocols under which BE ran successfully at the end of last season. BE will review these again in line with the next phase of change from the Government expected 12th April. BE will continue to work towards getting eventing back to what BE members would usually expect as soon as they safely can and in line with government guidance. Please heed the government message – Stay safe, Stay local.
The Elite competitions will run under the Elite Sport guidance provided by DCMS. This is very slightly different from the BE normal sport protocols – unfortunately no form of spectators are permitted at any elite sporting event. Again, as soon as this restriction is eased, BE will update their protocols accordingly. Those competing at the Elite competitions have been provided with the appropriate protocols.
EHV-1
BE continue to monitor the position and are following both the BEF guidance and advice from their Chief Veterinary Officer. Those horses returning from Europe have been suspended from BE training or competition until they have either completed the appropriate quarantine or received two negative EHV-1 tests.
