If Harveywetdog did Wikipedia

In April 2020 and in the interest of legacy I wrote a Wikipedia entry recording the thoughts and notable works of Harveywetdog. I admit I was ignorant of the rules concerning self promotion on Wikipedia and consequently my entry was correctly deleted and my account expunged from the system. As a result my original words and links were sadly lost but nevertheless here is a rewrite. Perhaps when I'm gone someone will be able to enter it onto Wikipedia as a fitting epitaph for my time on the Harveywetdog Project.

Can horse sport shake off its "elitist" tag as Champagne Pol Roger is announced as Official Champagne for Badminton Horse Trials?

More Badminton Horse Trials food and drink news!

Champagne Pol Roger is delighted to announce that it will be the Official Champagne of Badminton Horse Trials. The partnership between one of only two CCI5* events in the UK and a Champagne House that remains in family ownership after 174 year is one based on mutual principles of excellence and sportsmanship.

This move by the historic Champagne House strengthens its sponsorship portfolio in the world of eventing and equestrianism, as it continues to be Official Champagne Sponsor of the Land Rover Burghley Horse Trials and Champagne Sponsor of leading event rider, Harry Meade. In the past, Champagne Pol Roger has sponsored other leading British Eventing competitions, such as Blenheim Palace International Horse Trials, the Festival of British Eventing, Blair Castle International Horse Trials. The long-established and illustrious brand of Pol Roger is the perfect fit for one of the most important equestrian events in the UK and 2023 eventing calendar and cements its position as a long-term and ardent supporter of British Equestrianism.

Badminton Horse Trials take place from Thursday 4th May until Monday 8th May 2023. Staged within the beautiful grounds of Badminton Estate in South Gloucestershire, the competition is both an occasion to celebrate the highest level of equestrian competition in the British calendar, as well as one of the most hotly anticipated annual social spectacles which offers a great day out for all the family including outstanding hospitality, shopping, spectatorship and entertainment. Champagne Pol Roger has equal affinity for both. A sponsor of elite sport across Rugby Union (Barbarians FC, Bath Rugby RFC) tennis (Tennis and Rackets Association) and equestrianism, Pol Roger also believes in the importance of celebrating occasions. No matter whether it is cheering on the day’s eventing, toasting a victory or reconnecting with old friends, we hope guests and spectators will enjoy sipping a glass of Champagne Pol Roger.

James Simpson, Managing Director of Pol Roger Portfolio, said of the partnership, “Champagne Pol Roger and Badminton Horse Trials share a number of core values, not least their reputation for quality and commitment to showcasing the best of sporting talent. We are immensely proud to be sponsoring this historic event for the first time in our near 175 year history and look forward to doing so in years to come.”
